Why did Frimley Health NHS Trust win LCS Organisation of the year?

Frimley Health was recognised for embedding the Frimley Excellence (FX) Way, a Lean-based methodology driving continuous quality improvement across the Trust.

Judges emphasised the Trust’s comprehensive approach, from White Belt induction for all staff to Green Belt-led complex projects, aligning improvement initiatives with strategic priorities.

Measurable outcomes included improved staff engagement, project success in acute medical units and Same Day Emergency Care, reduced incidents, and enhanced patient outcomes. Innovative practices such as digital networks, e-learning modules, and FXIS awards reinforced learning and motivation.

The judges praised Frimley for creating a sustainable, inclusive improvement culture, demonstrating national thought leadership, and sharing best practice externally. They highlighted how FX embedded operational excellence into daily work, aligned leadership behaviours with improvement goals, and delivered measurable benefits for patients, staff, and the wider NHS.

"Winning the LCS Organisation of the Year Award was a proud moment for all of us at Frimley Health. It recognised not just a project or a team, but the collective effort of everyone who has embraced continuous improvement – from PDSA cycles to our LCS accredited, lean training. It was straightforward to draft an entry - and the process was quick and manageable. It’s given us a huge boost and reinforced that what we’re doing matters, locally, across the NHS, and beyond. "
